Storied Coast Expeditions

Gabarus Bay- 3 Days

Visit the fishing villages of Gabarus and Fourchu, the abandoned fishing villageof Gull Cove, and the understated and beautiful Gabarus wilderness protected area.  This Bay is said to have been visited by the Vikings of the Icelander Saga and was named by Basque fishermen, possibly before Columbus.

Louisbourg Fortress Coast- 3 Days

Departing the waterfront of modern Louisbourg, paddle to and tour the reconstructed French Fortress of Louisbourg, past and present crown jewel of this coast. Its surrounding waters are home to tales of the sieges of the town and battlements, whaling, shipwrecks and treasure.

Departing the waterfront of modern Louisbourg, paddle to and tour the reconstructed French Fortress of Louisbourg, past and present crown jewel of this coast. Its surrounding waters are home to tales of the sieges of the town and battlements, whaling, shipwrecks and treasure.  We travel to Scatarie Wilderness Protected Area, a rugged former fishing outpost which supplied the town with food and trade goods and historic danger to ships travelling to and from Europe.

Scatarie Island Outpost- 3 Days

Departing the fishing village of Main-a-Dieu, you visit the former island settlement and now Wilderness Protected Area of Scatarie, historic danger to ships travelling to and from Europe.

Highland Hearts Expeditions

Cape Breton Highlands- 5 Days

Paddle along the resplendent cliffs and otherwise-inaccessible beaches of the renowned Cape Breton Highlands. Whale sightings are a frequent occurrence and the scenery is breathtaking.

Acadian Shores Expeditions

Isle Madame- 3 Days

The Acadians descend from the first European settlers of this province, making their home on the land and sea. Explore the headlands and bays of Isle Madame for three days and get a taste for this picturesque island off the coast of an island.

Isle Madame- 5 Days

Isle Madame has so much to offer that five days is hardly enough! Sheltered bays, exposed headlands, winding channels, beckoning estuaries, Acadian history and wildlife.   Join us in circumnavigating the island and exploring the many facets of this jewel.

Bras d'Or Bays Expeditions

West Bras d'Or Islands- 3 Days

Paddle through the historic St Peter's Canal into Bras d'Or Lakes - Cape Breton's Inland Sea.  Protected from the open Atlantic, the Bras d'Or lakes have an ecosystem all their own - they are saltwater lakes complete with lobster and oyster.  This trip is especially suited to families and those wanting gentler adventure.

Dates: June 17-19, June 24-26, July 11-13, August 1-3, August 22-24, September 5-7,

Fall Colours Tour October 5-7.

 

West Bras d'Or Islands- 5 Days

Explore the Mi'kmaq waterways of the Bras d'Or Lakes - Cape Breton's Inland Sea.  Glacier-carved and protected from the open Atlantic, the Bras d'Or lakes have an ecosystem all their own - they are saltwater lakes complete with lobster and oyster.  This trip is an extended sea kayaking experience without some of the demands of open-water paddling.
